Sandwich Assessors approve $3.3M motor vehicle excise, process tax relief applications. Chair Larry Harrington, Vice-Chair Nick Fernandes, member Robert James, and Director of Assessing Ben Styche approved the 2026 Motor Vehicle Excise Commitment #1 for $3,377,347.84 in the March 3 meeting, reflecting recently issued motor vehicle tax bills. In executive session, the Board unanimously approved eight real estate exemptions for fiscal year 2026 and one real estate and personal property abatement application, while unanimously denying one abatement request.
Director Styche reported the department is managing increased workload from abatement processing and call volume as motor vehicle excise bills circulate.
