Committee receives $88.9M facilities assessment outlining capital needs

Sandwich School Committee approves curriculum changes and evaluates $88.9M maintenance challenge. The committee unanimously approved an updated 2026-2027 Sandwich Middle High School Program of Studies including a new personal finance course requirement for the graduating class of 2030, as presented by Principal Jeanne Nelson. A facilities assessment by Director Michael Ryan and consultant Scott Bancroft of Habeeb & Associates found $88,999,944 in total deferred maintenance needs, including roof leaks at the high school, undersized elementary lockers and sinks, and an auditorium floor requiring replacement.

Chair Kevin Sareault emphasized the challenge of securing voter approval to fund the repairs.
