Finance Committee reviews FY27 budget with 2.92% operating increase
Finance Committee · Meeting of February 3, 2026
SANDWICH — Finance Committee reviews Sandwich FY27 budget with modest 2.92 percent operating increase. Town Manager Bud Dunham presented the recommended budget featuring a $2.25 million capital plan and net capital spending of $1.408 million, with a budget balance of $7,377. Three cost pressures dominate the fiscal outlook: tuition assessments for out-of-district students, which have increased 75 percent since program inception with an estimated 7 percent rise for fiscal 2027; health insurance costs potentially increasing 15 percent with $100,000 monthly spending on GLP-1 medications; and growing capital maintenance needs across school and municipal buildings.
A regional dispatch system is projected to save $700,000 annually, funded primarily with $1.5 million in state grants.
