Glass Town Cultural District Committee Moves on Curator for Public Art

Glass Town Cultural District Steering Committee · Meeting of May 20, 2026

SANDWICH — Glass Town Cultural District Steering Committee approved March minutes and established plans for a public art curator. The committee, chaired by Paula Johnson, voted to move forward with drafting a curator RFP at a budgeted cost of up to $5,000 to guide site selection and artist recruitment. The town account balance is $29,153.88, with $15,000 received from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and a first payment of $3,800 made to artist Alfie.

The committee brainstormed eight potential art locations, including New Town Hall Lawn, Mill Creek Park, and an island along Tupper Road, with themes emphasizing coastal imagery and interactive installations. A June 30 unveiling at the library is planned for Alfie's installation.
