Housing Authority approves rental assistance for homeless families

SANDWICH — The Sandwich Housing Authority unanimously approved a new rental assistance program for homeless families at its March 12 meeting. The board allocated up to $24,000 from the Local Programs Fund for fiscal year 2027 to support homeless students and families in Sandwich Public Schools. Commissioners Tobin Wirt, Christine Johnson-Staub, Kathy Brown, and John Fox also voted unanimously to opt the Housing Authority into the Massachusetts Paid Family and Medical Leave Program.
In other business, the board approved a warrant for 258 checks totaling $473,036.96 and signed certificates of completion for Paving Project #261065.
