Planning Board continues Ridge Club hearing; approves tree removals

Planning Board · Meeting of February 3, 2026

SANDWICH — The Planning Board continues Ridge Club pond buffer hearing to April 21. Chair Nicole Ouellette and the board deferred final decision on Ridge Club CC LLC's request to reduce a 200-foot buffer zone around Hog Pond to 50 feet, requesting additional information on existing conditions, water-quality management practices, fencing, and possible buffer expansion. Director of Community Development Leanne Drake explained that a 1987 Planning Board condition required the 200-foot buffer, which has been breached by 40 years of golf course construction.

In separate action, the board unanimously approved a Scenic Road Permit authorizing removal of 16 trees and pruning of one tree at six town locations to reduce public safety risks.
