Sandwich board rejects expanded sandcastle art project

Visitors Services Board · Meeting of May 12, 2026

Sandwich Visitor Services Board declines Upper Cape art expansion funding. The board determined a proposal to expand a Yarmouth-based sandcastle public art initiative geographically across the Upper Cape falls outside the VSB mission. Two previously approved projects remain in progress: the $47,500 Mill Creek Restroom Upgrades and the $9,000 Community Board Structures project, awaiting final building permit approval before vendor Farrington Woodworking can install.

Board Chair Heidi Trottier said approvals must be verified by the town before work proceeds.
