Sandwich Council on Aging approves December minutes, hears Lifestyle Medicine program update

Sandwich Council on Aging reports robust midyear engagement across expanding programs. Director Susan Marancik detailed approximately 29,000 event check-ins and 4,000 program participants, with staff handling 2,000 monthly phone calls, serving 1,300 people through food and nutrition programs, and conducting 470 health screenings. The board heard updates on new "Walk with a Doc" and "Food For Life" plant-based nutrition initiatives, supported by the Visiting Nurse Association, and learned that the Opiate Abatement Fund continues examining impacts on elderly residents.

A newly formed nine-member Friends of the Council on Aging board will provide quarterly support to Sandwich seniors.
