Sandwich Launches 'Slow Down' Push Ahead of America 250 Week

SANDWICH — The Department of Public Works and the Sandwich Police Department are reviving the town's "Slow Down: In Our Town" public safety campaign as Sandwich braces for a week of America 250 celebrations layered onto the last rush of summer traffic.

The joint DPW-police campaign urges drivers to ease off the gas as visitors and residents converge on Sandwich for America 250 events during what is already the town's busiest season. Town officials framed the push as a shared responsibility between departments to keep pedestrians and cyclists safe on crowded village streets.

Separately, the town is reminding homeowners to keep up with septic system maintenance to protect both their properties and Sandwich's water resources, and is asking residents to pick up after their pets as part of the town's Stormwater Management Plan to keep waste out of local waterways.
