Sandwich Police Department Earns State Re-Accreditation
SANDWICH -- The Sandwich Police Department has earned re-accreditation from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission, town officials announced this week, a credential the department must periodically renew to demonstrate it meets statewide policing standards.

The Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission has re-accredited the Sandwich Police Department, according to a town announcement. The commission's accreditation process reviews department policies and practices against statewide standards, and re-accreditation is not automatic, departments must demonstrate continued compliance to keep the designation.
Separately, the town is reminding residents that the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season is underway and is urging coastal households to prepare before a storm threatens the area. The town is also seeking an alternate or associate member to join the Conservation Commission, a volunteer post focused on protecting Sandwich's wetlands and open space; interested residents are asked to file a Talent Bank form. The Tax Collector's Office at Town Hall continues selling 2026 beach stickers, also available online, with officials encouraging residents to buy early to avoid a rush.
