Sandwich Police Department Earns State Re-Accreditation

SANDWICH — The Sandwich Police Department has earned re-accreditation from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission, the town announced this week, a status the department must periodically renew to demonstrate it meets statewide law enforcement standards. Also this week, the Department of Public Works confirmed a new paving closure on Highfield Drive and wrapped up scheduled repaving on Kiahs Way.

The Town of Sandwich said the Police Department has "once again earned Re-Accreditation" from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission, a designation the commission awards to departments that meet its certification standards.

The Department of Public Works announced that Highfield Drive will close to all traffic for paving on Monday, Aug. 31, with work running from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The road will reopen as conditions allow, with full access restored by the end of the workday.

Separately, crews completed the previously announced paving of Kiahs Way on Friday, Aug. 28, closing the stretch from Quaker Meetinghouse Road to Mill Road for the day as part of the town's summer paving push, which also included work on Christopher Hollow Road in late August.
