Sandwich Police Department Earns State Re-Accreditation
SANDWICH — The Sandwich Police Department has again earned re-accreditation from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission, the town announced, as road crews continue resurfacing four residential streets and two town boards seek new volunteers.

The Sandwich Police Department has received Re-Accreditation from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission, the town said in an announcement this week, calling the recognition a mark of the department meeting statewide professional standards.
Road resurfacing work is underway on Main Street at Jarves Street and on Jarves Street between Main and Route 6A, which began Tuesday, Sept. 15, and on Church, Freeman and Willow streets, which began Monday, Sept. 14. Work hours run 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on-street parking is not permitted on the roadways under construction while crews are working.
The town is also seeking residents to volunteer as a regular or alternate member of the Zoning Board of Appeals and as an alternate or associate member of the Conservation Commission. Separately, the town is continuing to share Emergency Preparedness Month tips, with a recent installment urging residents to build an emergency kit, and is promoting a Substance Use Prevention Month event for parents, caregivers and community members on Oct. 16 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Center for Active Living. A limited supply of "Slow Down, In Our Town" yard signs also remains available at the Town Manager's Office through Sept. 30.
