Sandwich Public Library Board approves administrative updates, hears leadership changes

Public Library Board of Trustees · Meeting of January 13, 2026

Sandwich Public Library board hears updates on transitions and budget challenges. Library Director Diane Costagliola reported strong 2025 circulation — 136,000 items borrowed and renewed, 52,000 e-books checked out — as the Public Library Board of Trustees received updates on a new integrated library system launching in April through the Old Colony Library Network. The Friends of the Sandwich Public Library are navigating a leadership transition following the December departure of president Tammy McDevitt after 15 years of service; the organization will reduce its annual meeting schedule to five sessions.

Trustees Mark Wiklund and Jeanie Vander Pyl are running for reelection, and the board acknowledged a persistent $30,000 to $50,000 annual shortfall in the materials budget.
