Sandwich Select Board continued a licensing hearing for Captain's Bar & Grille to August 20. Owner George Gossios Jr. sought a 60-day extension to secure rebuild permits and financing following the May 2025 fire that destroyed the building, but Board Chair Dave Sampson noted the property remains listed for sale despite Gossios's claim he'd ended the realtor contract. Patrick Ellis demanded a formal written agreement stating no intent to sell and confirmation of financing. The Board voted unanimously to delay the decision, allowing Gossios to demonstrate progress on rebuilding milestones before the Board rules on whether to cancel the non-exercised license.
