SANDWICH — The Sandwich Select Board abandoned a two-site plan for a Department of Public Works and fire substation project, returning to the original design combining both facilities at one location. Board members cited zoning and traffic concerns about an alternate site on Quaker Meetinghouse Road. The board cancelled a scheduled public forum and directed consultants to refine the single-site plan.
Project delays could cost 75 percent of construction savings, officials estimated. In other business, town counsel Attorney John Giorgio, representing Sandwich for 36 years, retired after four decades with KP Law. Attorney Devan Braun succeeds him.
