SANDWICH — School Committee hears transportation study recommending bus route consolidation. A study presented by Rich Labrie found actual load capacity at 37 percent versus scheduled 59 percent, suggesting the district could reduce routes by one or two with ride times increasing just 5 to 7 minutes. The Committee also reviewed FY2027 budgets; Facilities Director Michael Ryan cited rising utilities costs and aging equipment maintenance, while Pupil Services Director Jennifer Healy highlighted the largest budget increase: out-of-district special education tuition, driven by new student placements and a 3.04 percent OSD rate increase.
