Water District votes to exclude GLP-1 medications from health plan

Sandwich Water District · Meeting of January 8, 2026

Sandwich Water District votes to drop GLP-1 medication coverage from health plan. Treasurer Teresa Johnson reported to the commissioners that including weight-loss GLP-1 drugs in the Cape Cod Municipal Health Group plan could add 8 to 10 percent to an already steep rate increase, bringing the total FY 2027 increase to approximately 20 percent. Chairman Richard Anderson made the motion to vote no on coverage, with reconsideration possible if other cost options emerge; the vote was unanimous.

In related business, the board unanimously approved revisions to employee benefits effective January 8, allowing employees to carry over five vacation days annually and permitting pro-rated longevity pay for retirees.
