The Town of Sandwich announced Oct. 20 that it is seeking five Community Liaisons to take part in the town's Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) 2.0 program.

According to the town manager's office, the liaisons will help engage residents, identify community needs and priorities, and work with town staff to develop a project aimed at strengthening Sandwich's resilience to climate-related hazards. Sandwich is a state-certified MVP community and has been working to prepare for and address climate-related risks; the MVP 2.0 program builds on that work with added focus on equity, social resilience and community vulnerabilities.

Selected liaisons will attend two-hour, in-person meetings during the winter and spring of 2027 and will receive a stipend for their participation. The town said it is particularly interested in hearing from people with lived experience, community connections or ideas for reaching residents who may be more vulnerable to climate impacts, including low-income and fixed-income households, residents with disabilities, older adults, youth and families, and residents of color, as well as full-time Sandwich residents generally.

Residents interested in applying are encouraged to complete the Community Liaison Interest Form. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis through November 2026, and selected applicants will be contacted to schedule a 15-minute phone conversation. The program's Core Team is scheduled to begin its work in November.

"Community participation is an important part of building a more equitable and resilient Sandwich," the town said, encouraging residents to apply and help shape local resilience efforts.
