Code Red system launches as emergency committee reaffirms readiness.

Local Emergency Planning Committee · Meeting of March 20, 2026

Sandwich Local Emergency Planning Committee confirms departmental readiness as Code Red goes live. The committee reviewed 2025 Tier 2 hazardous materials submittals and found all in order, with reporting restructured for Upper Cape Transfer Station and Upper Cape Water Collaborative facilities to report directly to the town. Chief JJ Burke confirmed Fire and Police plows remain in service for winter season, and Tree Warden James Sacco will develop debris-management protocols modeled on Newton's guidelines for presentation in May.

The town's Code Red notification system is now operational.
