Sandwich Police Department Earns Re-Accreditation from State Commission
The Sandwich Police Department has earned Re-Accreditation from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission, while the town's newly finalized Charter and preparations for a busy summer season, including America 250 events, dominate this week's town updates.

The Sandwich Police Department has once again received Re-Accreditation from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission, the town announced, a recognition that reflects the department's adherence to state law-enforcement standards.
Separately, the Town of Sandwich confirmed that its updated Town Charter has been finalized following approval by the Massachusetts Legislature and the governor. The document is now posted on the town website for residents to review.
The town also posted official results from the May 4 Annual Town Meeting and the May 7 Annual Town Election, thanking residents for their participation in the civic process.
Road crews are set to begin resurfacing Christopher Hollow Road and nearby streets starting July 8, with work scheduled 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The town said access to homes in the area may be periodically delayed, though full access will be restored at the end of each workday.
With the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season underway since June 1, the town is urging coastal residents to begin storm preparations now. Separately, the Department of Public Works and Police Department relaunched the "Slow Down – In Our Town" public safety campaign ahead of a week of America 250 celebrations and the summer tourist rush.
The town also reminded residents that 2026 beach stickers are now available for purchase online or in person at the Tax Collector's Office at Town Hall, and shared spring lawn care tips as part of its ongoing Stormwater Management Program.
COMMUNITY & ARTS
The Sandwich Town Band's Summer Concert Series continues this month, with performances scheduled for July 9, July 16, July 23 and July 30. The Sandwich Chamber of Commerce will also host the 1st Mill Creek Rubber Ducky Derby on July 24.

The Sandwich Historical Commission meets Wednesday, July 8. The Sandwich Water District and Sandwich Housing Authority both hold meetings Thursday, July 9, alongside a Select Board meeting the same evening. The Historic District Committee is scheduled to meet Monday, July 13. The Sandwich Town Band's Summer Concert Series continues Thursday, July 9, with additional shows July 16, 23 and 30. The Sandwich Chamber of Commerce's 1st Mill Creek Rubber Ducky Derby is set for Friday, July 24.
